Investing More Resources In Water

The Mandera County Government plans to inject Kshs1.6 billion for the provision of water and sewerage services between 2018 and 2022.

The Mandera County Integrated Development Plan (CIDP) 2018-2022 states that the Governor Ali Roba administration aims to ensure “provision of efficient and effective basic services such as water, sanitation, healthcare and basic education”.

Water and sanitation, the county government notes, are critical to the achievement of the county’s mission.

The county government’s objective, with regard to water and sewerage services program in the CIDP is “To ensure access to safe and sustainable water supply and sewerage services in the county”.

The CIDP envisages; “Water and sewerage services delivered in a sustainable, responsive and accountable manner that fully embraces the principles of corporate governance throughout the county”.

Key among the activities targeted include, Capacity development of county water services provision (with MANDWASCO as the ma Services Provider) through rehabilitation, repair and maintenance of water and sanitation facilities, staff recruitment and training, purchase of vehicles, office space provision, and purchase of office furniture and equipment.

An estimated Kshs 1.66 billion is allocated in the CIDP 2018-2022 as the amount of funds the County Government of Mandera will invest in the provision of water and sewerage services.

The MANDWASCO Strategic Plan will support the CIDP in achieving its mission through the provision of water and sewerage services.
