Today,On February 17th, 2024, a significant event took place at Pridein Mombasa where the Mandera County Government, in collaboration with Chief Officer Water and CEO of MANDWASCO, finalized a pivotal financing agreement with the Water Sector Trust Fund for the Takaba Water Supply project. The funding for this crucial project is made possible by the European Union, aimed at tackling drought emergencies and creating climate-resilient infrastructure to enhance water supply in arid and semi-arid regions.
This initiative is part of a broader programme targeting 8 counties, namely Mandera, Baringo, Kajiado, Kilifi, Kitui, Samburu, Taita-Taveta, and West Pokot. The Takaba Water Supply project encompasses various components, including the construction of treatment facilities, raising mains, expansion of pipe networks, building masonry tanks, installation of metering systems, construction of cattle troughs, and implementation of electromechanical works.
As a key requirement, the Mandera County Government is set to provide co-financing support for the proposed project. The responsibility of successful project execution lies with MANDWASCO, with a set timeline of 3 months to complete the implementation process and bring about positive changes in water supply within the region.
