Focusing on pro-poor provision of water
The Mandera Water and Sewerage Company Limited (MANDWASCO) is implementing pro-poor strategies in the provision of water and sewerage services.
The company targets to increase water and sanitation uptake in informal settlements to achieve 100 percent coverage.
The company’s mandate is to provide water and sewerage services throughout the county plans to establish Communal Water Points (CWP) in all informal settlements.
It is to further establish lifeline tariffs through subsidies to the cost of water at CWPs.
The company whose motto is an “Oasis of life,” is seeking investment financing from the Water Sector Trust Fund (WSTF) through the preparation and submission of development proposals for water and sanitation facilities in pro-poor sectors.
The firm is also preparing a list of underserved informal settlements and prepare a program for progressive service coverage.
It seeks to give priority to gender in the operations and management of CWPs.
